部分章節Differences in cardiologists' practice patterns may be reinforced by legal incentives. This paper tests the impact of the Professional Standards Review Organizations (PSROs) on the variations in hospital admission rates for atherosclerosis in New York State using a weighted Lagrange multiplier statistic derived by Hu and Phelps (1996). The evidence supports the hypothesis that the further a PSRO area was away from the capital of New York, the higher the net admission rate. The medical variations reflected differences in implementation of the law.
